Osteoporosis Screening Package

Osteoporosis Screening Package Bone density testing, scientifically known as DEXA or DXA, works by using two different energy levels of X-rays to analyze bone mineral density (BMD) in the spine and femur. This test helps assess the degree of bone loss in the body. The radiation dose from this scan is extremely low — only about one-tenth of that from a standard chest X-ray. The procedure is safe, painless, and very quick — typically completed in around 10 minutes. It is currently the most commonly used method in clinical settings to diagnose osteoporosis.
In general, a healthy adult reaches peak bone density around the age of 35, after which bone mass gradually declines. For women, especially after menopause, the sharp drop in estrogen levels leads to a significant decrease in bone density. Additionally, women's bones are naturally thinner and lighter than men's, which putting them at a higher risk of osteoporosis — approximately four times higher than men of the same age.
