Message from Corporate Director

“Compassion at the Centre” embodies the spirit we uphold at United Christian Medical Service (UCMS), reflecting a warm attitude of care, compassion, and concern in our service delivery from both the Hospital and Community Health Services. Dr. Edward Hamilton Paterson, the first chief medical superintendent of United Christian Hospital, strongly believed in the concept of “Hospital without wall,” emphasising the significance of both treatment and disease prevention efforts.
Driven by the goal of delivering community healthcare services with compassion, he launched various community initiatives, including the Community Nursing Service and Home Hospice Care Programme. He also initiated the study of establishing community health services aimed at offering a diverse array of services, such as home outreach, community health centers, school health programmes, senior day care for the elderly, occupational health care, mental health services, and health education. His vision and initiatives have set the foundation of United Christian Nethersole Community Health Service (UCNCHS).
In the past half-century, thanks to the dedication of a team of committed professionals and supporting staff, along with the guidance of the UCMS Management Board, UCNHS services have grown to include primary health, allied health, mental health, and social services, emphasising disease prevention.
Going forward, UCNCHS will maintain the commitment to deliver professional, accessible, and affordable services to the grassroots community with compassion and Christian love. We will continue to advocate for holistic health in physical, mental, social, and spiritual aspects.
