About the Role

We are looking for an empathetic, motivated, and organized Project Manager/Counsellor to help coordinate an 18-month community recovery program. This initiative provides tiered emotional support to individuals, families, and caregivers affected by the Tai Po Wang Fuk Court fire, as well as frontline rescue personnel.

This role is an excellent opportunity for early-career professionals to gain valuable experience in both community mental health and project management. You will provide fundamental counseling support while managing the operational rollout of community workshops, training, and a meaningful closing tribute event.

 

Key Responsibilities

Counselling & Support Duties:

  • Provide basic emotional support and general counseling to individuals, families, and caregivers involved in the fire incident.

  • Conduct initial screenings to monitor clients' well-being and identify signs of severe distress.

  • Serve as a vital link in the care pathway by referring complex cases to our in-house psychiatrist or the Hospital Authority for professional assessment and medication management when necessary.

  • Assist in facilitating thematic small support groups focused on grief processing, rebuilding daily routines, and peer support.

 

Project Management & Coordination:

  • Help oversee the daily operations and smooth implementation of the 18-month intervention program.

  • Coordinate public mental health seminars aimed at strengthening neighborhood resilience.

  • Organize and provide logistical support for intensive training sessions and peer support groups for helping professionals (e.g., social workers and nurses).

  • Coordinate the planning and execution of the closing event, "Sowing Seeds of Hope: A Community Tribute," including the physical community garden and digital campaign components.

  • Liaise with local schools, other HKCSS member agencies, and community centers for participant recruitment and cross-sector support.

  • Track participant metrics, manage administrative tasks, and assist in budget monitoring.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Master’s Degree in Counselling or Social Work.

  • Experience: Early-career professionals with a passion for community recovery and mental health are highly encouraged to apply. Previous internship, volunteer, or work experience in community projects is a plus.

  • Cultivate and maintain good relationship with stakeholders, such as donors, schools and community/ corporate sponsors;
  • Coordinate the fundraising-related administration works, handle donation activities, manage the donors/sponsors/ volunteers’ database, and follow-up enquiries
  • Assist in exploring new donation channels in the community and corporate levels
  • Prepare proposals and appeal materials to seek new and existing corporate and major donor support.

 Requirements

  • Bachelor degree holder with at least 3 years of relevant experience in fundraising/ event management/ corporate communications/ sales & marketing;
  • Proven experience in marketing materials production, event logistics planning and handling is a must   
  • Exposures in donor/sponsor relationship management and soliciting new partnership/sponsorship will be an advantage
  • Ability to work independently to tight deadlines and a positive “can-do” attitude
  • Proficient in computer applications including MS Office and Chinese word processing; basic knowledge on design software, such as AI and Photoshop are preferred.

The Lung Cancer Screening Pilot Programme is a new 6-year funded collaborative project with the University of Hong Kong, with the objective to enhance earlier lung cancer detection and diagnoses and generate evidence-based recommendations for lung cancer screening in Hong Kong.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist in community engagement activities and health talk for recruitment and to promote awareness of the screening programme.
  • Conduct screening, enrolment, and consent processes after receiving training from the team coordinator and ensure all paper-based /electronic study record are completed.
  • Provide clear information about the study, procedures, and potential risks/benefits.
  • Coordinate follow-up appointments and subsequent assessments.
  • Proactively track and follow up with participants who miss scheduled appointments, using reminders and personalized outreach to minimize default rates.
  • Provide administrative support to the project
  • Assist in preparation of program assessment tool, materials and document
  • Handling phone enquiries and follow up as required
  • Outreach work required

Requirements

  • Holder of HKCEE/HKDSE certificate or equivalent
