Services

Emotional Health & Counseling Service uses internationally recognized assessment tools, clinical interviews, and behavioral observations to assist in understanding children’s and adolescents' needs, foster potential growth, and provide appropriate support. Upon completing the assessment, professional analysis and reports can also be provided, along with referral services if needed.

Assessments are conducted by qualified psychologists and services include but are not limited to:

A. Emotional and Behavioral Assessment

Target Audience

Children suspected of having emotional, behavioral, or special education needs but the specific type of assessment required remains to be determined.

Fee

$1,800 per hour (Minimum 2 hours) (reservation fee: $1,200, remaining payment on the assessment day: $2,400; final fees will be adjusted based on actual circumstances).

Assessment Tools

Interviews: Consultation with parents and the child to understand emotional and behavioral issues, provide recommendations and follow-ups.

Note: An additional $1,800 is required for an assessment report (2 to 3 pages).

B. Developmental Assessment

Target Audience

Children aged 1 month to 6 years old

Fee

$6,500 (reservation fee: $2,000, remaining payment on the assessment day: $4,500; final fees will be adjusted based on actual circumstances).

Assessment Tools

1. Parent Interview (15 to 20 minutes)
2. Assessment Tests: Mullen Scales of Early Learning (1 month to 6 years old) / Hong Kong Comprehensive Development Assessment for Preschoolers (3 years 4 months to 6 years 3 months old) (Duration: 45 minutes to 1.5 hours)

Report Review and Summary & Referral Letter

It includes a brief written report (in Chinese or English) and a referral letter for the Central Referral System for Rehabilitation Services – Preschool Rehabilitation Services (Form 2), if necessary (30 minutes).

C. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Assessment^

Target Audience

Children aged 2 years old or above

Fee

$8,400 (reservation fee: $2,000, remaining payment on the assessment day: $6,400; final fees will be adjusted based on actual circumstances).

Assessment Tools

1. 1. Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule – 2^nd Edition (ADOS-2) (Duration: 1 hour).
   2. Autism Diagnostic Interview – Revised (ADI-R) (Duration: 1.5 to 2 hours).

It includes a brief written report (in Chinese or English) and a referral letter for the Central Referral System for Rehabilitation Services – Preschool Rehabilitation Services (Form 2), if necessary (30 minutes).

D. Dyslexia Assessment (Chinese)#

Target Audience

Children aged 6 years to 15 years 6 months old

Fee

$9,400 (reservation fee: $2,000, remaining payment on the assessment day: $7,400; final fees will be adjusted based on actual circumstances).

Assessment Tools

1. 1. Parent Interview (20 minutes).
   2. Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children – 4^th Edition (6 to 16 years old) (Duration: 1 to 1.5 hours).
   3. Hong Kong Test for Specific Learning Difficulties in Reading and Writing – Third Edition (6 years to 12 years 6 months old), OR Hong Kong Test for Junior Secondary School Students with Dyslexia (11 years to 15 years 6 months OLD) (Duration: 1.5 to 2 hours).

E. Dyslexia Screening (Chinese)#

Target Audience

Children aged 4 years 3 months to 6 years old

Fee

$7,500 (reservation fee: $2,000, remaining payment on the assessment day: $5,500; final fees will be adjusted based on actual circumstances).

Assessment Tools

1. 1. Parent Interview: Brief consultation with parents to gather background information (20 minutes).
   2. Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children –4^thEdition (4 to 6 years old) (Duration: 1 hour).
   3. Hong Kong Dyslexia Early Screening Scale (4 years 3 months to 6 years 5 months old) (Duration: 45 minutes).

F. ADHD Assessment^

Target Audience

Children aged 5 years old or above

$8,400 (reservation fee: $2,000, remaining payment on the assessment day: $6,400; final fees will be adjusted based on actual circumstances).

3. Test of Everyday Attention for Children (6 to 16 years old) (Duration: 45 minutes to 1 hour).

G. Intelligence Assessment

Children aged 4 years old or above

$6,200 (reservation fee: $2,000, remaining payment on the assessment day: $4,200; final fees will be adjusted based on actual circumstances).

Assessment Tools:

1. 1. Parent Interview (15 to 20 minutes)
   2. Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence – 4^th Edition (4 to 6 years old), OR Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children – 4^th Edition (6 to 16 years old), OR Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale –4^th Edition (16 to 90 years old) (Duration: 1 to 1.5 hours).

Remarks

For detailed written reports (Chinese or English), an additional $1,800 is required.

*If assessment results indicate a need for referrals, a referral letter for the Central Referral System for Rehabilitation Services – Preschool Rehabilitation Services (Form 2) will be provided; please note that other type of referral letters incur additional charges.

# If an intelligence assessment (Wechsler Tests) has been conducted in the past 3 years and relevant results are provided, the fee will be reduced by $3,000.

^ When conducting both Autism and ADHD assessments together, a $1,000 reduction in fees is applicable. Please note that conducting both assessments may require two separate days.
