Overview
Smoking not only harms lung health but is also linked to cardiovascular diseases, strokes, and cancers. To help individuals quit smoking and regain a healthy lifestyle, UCN Chinese Medicine Team integrates traditional theories with clinical experience. This programme helps smokers ease withdrawal symptoms and improve their chances of success through acupuncture, ear acupoint therapy, and smoking cessation counselling. All treatments are conducted by registered Chinese Medicine Practitioners, who tailor the support based on each participant's condition.
Principles of Chinese Medicine in Smoking Cessation
Quitting smoking isn’t just about “fighting cravings” but also about supporting overall well-being. Through acupuncture and ear acupoint therapy, it helps rebalance body functions, stabilizing emotions and reducing discomfort during withdrawal. This natural approach helps reduce nicotine dependence and increases the chances of quitting successfully.
- Improves Breathing and Reduces Coughing
Smoking damages the lungs and often causing tiredness, shortness of breath, or coughing. Acupuncture and ear acupoint therapy can help improve smoker’s lung function and ease discomfort, especially in the early stages of quitting.
- Promotes Calmness and Relaxation
People often feel anxious, irritated, or experience insomnia when quitting smoking. Chinese medicine helps smokers manage stress and maintain emotional balance, making it easier to stay committed.
- Reduces Cravings and withdrawal Symptoms
Common withdrawal symptoms such as headaches, shaky hands, and dry mouth can make quitting challenging. Acupuncture addresses these discomforts by stimulating specific points that trigger the brain to release endorphins. This natural process creates calming effects while simultaneously reducing nicotine dependence and easing withdrawal symptoms.
- Helps Control Appetite and Weight
Some smokers eat more or gain weight after quitting. Chinese medicine tailors dietary or tea remedies based on participants’ condition to strengthen stomach digestion and promote intestinal health.
- Strengthens Smokers’ Body and Willpower
A stronger and healthier body makes long-term success more achievable. Chinese medicine focuses on overall wellness to help smokers stay smoke-free in the long run.
