3/1972

Formation of Kwun Tong Community Health Project (KTCHP) and Opening of Sau Mau Ping Community Health Centre (SMPCHC)

The "Kwun Tong Community Health Project"(KTCHP) of the United Christian Medical Service became operational in March 1972 with the opening of the first community health centre in the housing estate of Sau Mau Ping.

7/1974

Opening of Yau Tong Community Health Centre(YTCHC)

YTCHC was opened in July 1974. Renovation was completed in June 1978 to accommodate the expansion of services. However, due to the Government's comprehensive redevelopment programme, the old YTCHC was moved to Wo Lok Estate with official name changed to 'Wo Lok Community Health Centre' in March 1993.

6/1976

Opening of Lam Tin Community Health Centre (LTCHC)

LTCHC was opened in June 1976. Again, due to the Government's comprehensive redevelopment programme, the old LTCHC was moved to Kwong Tin Estate with official name changed to 'Bradbury Kwong Tin Community Health Centre' in February 1994.

8/1976

Maiden Issue of the KTCHP Agency Newsletter

Monthly newsletter the 'Voice of Community Health', founded by a group of volunteer medical students, issued its first edition in August 1976.

7/1977

Establishment of the Kwun Tong Occupational Community Health Centre


The Kwun Tong Occupational Community Health Centre was opened in July 1977 and started to provide Adult Health Maintenance Program.

8/1978

Introduction of Dental Service by LTCHC

Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Kwun Tong, LTCHC started providing dental service in August 1978.

11/1978

YTCHC Introduced Infant Health Maintenance Program

1/1979

KTCHP pioneered to provide Adult Health Maintenance Program


2/1979

Introduction of Geriatric Health Maintenance Program

YTCHC and LTCHC started providing Geriatric Health Maintenance Program in February 1979.

8/1979

Establishment of Chronic Disease Clinics

All three centres set up 'Chronic Disease Clinics' to cater the people suffering from hypertension, chronic obstructive airway disease, diabetes and arthritis.
 

5/1980

Opening of SMPCHC (Extension I)

The opening of the Extension I of SMPCHC marked the expansion of Geriatric Health Maintenance Service. A donation of HK$120,000 was given by the Rotary Club of Kwun Tong for equipment purchase and renovation.

1981

Launching of the First Major Anti-smoking Campaign

Our CHCs started to provide Quit Smoking classes since 1981. Graduates turned into active anti-smoking campaigners and formed the Kwun Tong Community Ex-Smokers' Fraternity Association in January 1985. Acupuncture Quit-smoking courses were also organized.
